Smashing the cloud with a hammer:
Exploring AI through rejection

This workshop aims to explore embeddedness of AI through a lens of resistance. These pervasive technologies, increasingly finding their way into more and more of our gadgets, institutions, workplaces and social experiences, are often labeled inevitable. Inspired by the implosion method, we are interested in bringing together students from all backgrounds in exploring what a hypothetical rejection of AI would entail in practice.

Participants will bring together their various experiences and expertises to highlight the many systems and structures making AI possible by discussing what it would take to dismantle them. Recognising a long history of worker resistance and criticism of the political, social and legal implications of automation technologies, we will pick up the metaphorical hammer and swing it at the cloud.
