Open Position: PhD Student in Library and Information Science at Linnaeus University
Linnaeus University and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities welcomes doctoral applications in Library and Information Science. The holder of a PhD-position in this project will be employed by and based at the Department of Cultural Sciences and write their thesis as part of the WASP-HS research cluster AI Futures of Culture and Memory. The cluster is a collaboration between Linnaeus University, Uppsala University, Chalmers University of Technology, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Umeå University. Within the framework of the position, the doctoral student will conduct their research with a focus on the transformative impact of AI on the production, communication, preservation, and interpretation of collective memory and cultural practices.

Open Position: PhD Student in Media and Communication with a focus on AI and Welfare within Critical and Cultural Theory
Södertörn University welcomes doctoral proposals in Media and Communication Studies, to be conducted within WASP-HS. The successful applicant will write their thesis as part of the AI Welfare State cluster, which is an interdisciplinary collaboration between several universities and is led by researchers at Södertörn University, Lunds University and Karlstad University.

Open Position: PhD Student in Computer Science and Engineering with a focus on Generative AI in Cultural and Creative Domains
Chalmers University of Technology welcomes doctoral proposals in Computer Science and Engineering Studies. The PhD candidate will be joining the WASP-HS Research Cluster AI Futures of Culture and Memory. This cluster is a collaboration of Uppsala University, Chalmers University, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Linnaeus University, and Umeå University. The cluster is dedicated to exploring how artificial intelligence is transforming human culture and collective memory. The PhD position is related to investigating learned cultural representations in data search spaces of generative AI models for culture and creative domains.

Open Position: PhD Student in legal science with a focus on Regulation of AI
Örebro University and the School of Behavioural, Social and Legal Sciences welcomes one doctoral student in legal science with a focus on Regulation of AI. The PhD candidate will be joining the WASP-HS Research Cluster The Rule of AI — AI, Regulation, and Society, which is led by Örebro University in cooperation with Uppsala University and Stockholm University. The cluster will examine how AI is regulated and aim to understand the dynamics shaping AI governance and the role of AI in compliance and policy implementation.

Open Position: PhD Student in Technology and Society at Lund University
The PhD candidate will be part of the research cluster The AI Welfare State, which is a cross-university and cross-disciplinary collaboration led by researchers at Lund University, Karlstad University and Södertörn University. The cluster is funded by WASP-HS and aims to develop a new theory of the AI welfare state to ensure that AI technologies support, rather than undermine, public values such as justice, transparency and social cohesion. This specific PhD position is based at Lund University and focuses on the role, interaction, regulation and significance of technology within society.
