The WASP-HS Research School brings together a multidisciplinary group of PhD students and researchers at an online conference on 10 and 11 February to present and discuss current research in artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on society and the humanities.
“The conference will provide an exciting overview of cutting-edge Swedish research on the implications of AI technology for individuals and society,” says Christian Balkenius, Director of the Research School and Professor at Lund University.
The program emphasizes excellent research and funds a large number of PhD students. For the second consecutive year, the program’s Research School will bring together the multidisciplinary cohort to present and discuss ongoing research. The two-day conference also marks the start of the second cohort of PhD students, adding over 30 of them to the research school. To date, the program has funded around 70 doctoral students in total.
Together, the PhD students and researchers are part of a multidisciplinary network. The research presented at the conference will include the impact of AI on politics, consumer behavior, creative technologies, cultural heritage and much more. The research is carried out at Chalmers University of Technology, the Institute for Futures Studies, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm School of Economics, University of Karlstad, Linköping, Lund, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Uppsala, and Umeå as well as the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
The conference serves not only as a platform for the PhD students, but also as a meeting place for the approximately 60 researchers involved in WASP-HS. Results from current AI research and its implications for society and the humanities will be discussed by the participants at the conference.
