Professional Trust and Autonomous Systems

About the project

While expectations are high for artificial intelligence to contribute to a better society, this new technology is arousing distrust in many. Researchers at the University of Gothenburg, led by Jonas Ivarsson, will investigate how concerns and fears relating to new technology can affect the development of society.

In this project, researchers will study how new technical solutions can be integrated into various areas of society. The focus of the project is primarily on the medical field, where great changes are expected to occur in the next few years.

If the public and the professionals have no trust in the new technologies and artificial intelligence, there is a risk that systems based on such new technology will be difficult to implement.

In this project, the researchers will look at how distrust can be turned into trust by investigating how suspicion is expressed, how risks are identified and managed, and how accountability is discussed.

The aim of the project is to create insight, in order to respond to concerns about artificial intelligence and autonomous systems.
