How can we design AI systems that are both safe and resilient? That was the central theme of this year’s WASP-HS Summer School, held in collaboration with the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP). In June, PhD students from both programs gathered in Norrköping for a week of lectures, discussions, and interdisciplinary exchange.
The focus of this year’s WASP-HS Summer School was on developing safe and resilient AI-driven systems, while navigating the complex legal and regulatory frameworks that shape the future of AI and autonomous technologies.
Held in collaboration with the sister program Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP), the Summer School brought together participants from the WARA Research Arenas in Robotics, Public Safety, and Media & Language.
Throughout the week, the program facilitated interdisciplinary collaboration across technical, legal, and societal domains. WASP-HS and WASP PhD students from diverse fields engaged in workshops, lectures, and hands-on sessions aimed at deepening understanding and fostering innovation in responsible AI development.
A special thank you to all invited speakers—Sofia Ranchordas, Katja de Vries, Liane Colonna, Guy Gadney FRSA, Jannice Käll, Ana Nordberg, Alexandra Kafka Larsson, and Katherine Harrison—for sharing your expertise and inspiring the next generation of researchers.
