Why? Celebrating the start of two research projects within the WASP-HS Research Environment AI Futures of Culture and Memory.

13.30 -14.15 Session 1. AI & Literature
Short presentations:
– Sarah Hedman-Dybeck (PhD Candidate in Literature, UU) & Karl Berglund (Assistant
Professor in Literature, UU), on attitudes towards AI-narrated audiobooks
– Tuuli Hongisto (PhD in Literature, University of Helsinki), on AI-generated literature
Mini Panel:
– Hongisto, Hedman-Dybeck and a publisher working with AI (TBA), moderated by Berglund

14.35–15.20 Session 2. AI as a tool in artistic voice and music practices
A panel discussion moderated by André Holzapfel (Associate professor in Media Technology,
KTH):
– Courtney Reed (Lecturer in Digital Technologies, Loughbourough University London &
artist/vocalist)
– Kıvanç Tatar (Associate Professor in Data Science and AI, Chalmers University &
musician/new media artist)
– Bob Sturm (Associate Professor in Computer Science, KTH).

15.40 -16.25 Session 3 Data management, organisation and curation including generative/synthetic approaches
A panel discussion moderated by Anna Foka (professor in Digital Humanities, UU). Panelists:
– Frieda Schmidt (Technische Universität Darmstadt, cultural historian, data analyst and postdoc
researcher), on post-colonial heritage data,
– Karolina Hedström & Ulrika Schreil (Stockholms Läns Museum – a digital museum without
physical spaces), on paradata and data curation,
– Isto Huvila (professor in Information Studies, UU), on synthetic data
– Matts Lindström (media historian focusing on the cultural history of information and Deputy
Director the Centre for Digital Humanities and Social Sciences, UU), on historical medical data
and generative AI,
– Per Israelsson (Linnaeus University, Department of Media and Journalism), on synthetic data.
