WASP-HS invites PhD students to apply for affiliation with the program and its graduate school, focused on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and society. This is a unique chance to join a national network, engage in leading research, and contribute to humanities and social science perspectives on AI. The call is now open and closes on 1 December, 2025.
Affiliated PhD students will join a vibrant community of scholars and gain access to a wide range of activities designed to enrich their doctoral experience. These include:
– Participation in at least four WASP-HS PhD courses, covering topics such as ethics, governance, and societal impacts of AI.
– Attendance at summer schools and the annual WASP-HS winter conference, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
– Opportunities to visit leading AI research sites, organized by WASP-HS.
– Eligibility to apply for funding for international research stays, supporting global academic engagement.
Costs associated with WASP-HS activities are shared between WASP-HS and the student’s home university or project, ensuring broad accessibility.
Eligibility
To qualify, applicants must:
– Be enrolled in a PhD program at a Swedish university.
– Have commenced their doctoral studies no earlier than January 1, 2025.
