Stanford and MIT

WASP-HS opens a total of 6 calls for postdoctoral scholarships at Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). These scholarships offer unique opportunities for promising researchers who have recently earned their PhDs from Swedish universities. Deadline to apply is 16 November 2026.

WASP-HS invites applications for postdoctoral scholarships at MIT and Stanford. The goal of the scholarship program is to provide postdoctoral fellows with the opportunity to grow into independent investigators, experience new research environments, and expand their international networks.

These scholarships will enable promising researchers who have recently obtained their doctorates at a Swedish university to spend one to two years at either MIT or Stanford University. Applicants from all disciplines are welcome. Please see the individual calls for specific conditions and requirements.

All scholarships will begin in the fall of 2027. Postdoctoral fellows at MIT will be affiliated with Social and Ethical Responsibilities of Computing (SERC), which studies and teaches how AI and computing can impact society – and how they can be designed and used in ways that benefit humanity. Fellows at Stanford University will be affiliated with Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI), which promotes human-centered AI aimed at benefiting society broadly.

Open Postdoctoral Scholarships

Applications should be submitted in English via the Wallenberg Foundation’s electronic application portal which opens on 16 October. Deadline to apply is 16 November 2026.
