Co-Design and Collaborative Methods in Studying Digitalisation and AI Use

How can AI be used in a responsible and socially relevant way? In this seminar series we raise questions about the effects of AI and autonomous systems on the welfare system.
In this session, Deniz Duru will present how collaboration and co-design methods can be used to study processes of digitalisation and AI use. Drawing on research on migrants’ digital inclusion, access to public services, and labour market integration, the presentation will discuss how collaboration among migrants, public sector organisations, civil society actors, and employers can foster mutual understanding, strengthen communication, and build trust across stakeholder groups. The presentation will illustrate how digital ethnography, interviews, dialogue meetings, and workshops can be combined within collaborative research processes to generate shared knowledge and support the development of actionable solutions. By involving stakeholders throughout the research process, collaborative approaches contribute to socially relevant research and help ensure that findings are useful to those directly affected by digital transformation.
The presentation will be held in English. Participants are welcome to use English and Scandinavian languages during the discussion and Q&A session.

More information about WASP-HS Collaboration Arena Welfare
WASP-HS Welfare Collaboration Arena contributes to advancing research that takes its starting point in the real-world challenges of the welfare sector and explores how artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous systems can be used in a responsible and socially relevant manner.
Through long-term collaborations, the arena helps ensure that new knowledge can be applied in the ongoing digital transformation of welfare services. It creates opportunities for researchers and representatives of welfare organizations to jointly understand complex challenges, develop new perspectives, and contribute to future knowledge.
