How AI Affects the Swedish Economy and Labour Market

A new report by the Swedish Agency for Growth Policy Analysis (Tillväxtanalys) and Uppsala University, authored by WASP-HS researchers Oskar Nordström Skans and Leo Sokolow Romin, examines how AI is transforming the Swedish economy and labour market.

“We have developed an analytical framework for continuously monitoring structural change in the Swedish economy, with particular attention to the parts most exposed to AI,” says Oskar Nordström Skans, Professor of Economics at Uppsala University, and research leader of the WASP-HS Research Environment AI, Structural Change, and the Future of Work.

The analysis focuses on three key dimensions of this transformation:

· Productivity growth within firms

· Labour market dynamics and worker mobility

· Outcomes for individuals in fields of education that are particularly exposed to AI
