Better and healthier societal integration of generative AI was the main discussion at the WASP and WASP-HS workshop at Rånäs slott, Stockholm, earlier this fall.

Generative AI is used by many in day-to-day life and work and is rapidly being integrated into research, industry, culture, and the public sector. As these technologies become increasingly embedded in society, there is a growing need for interdisciplinary research that addresses both technical development and its societal implications.

Earlier this fall, WASP-HS and WASP hosted a three-day workshop at Rånäs slott in Stockholm to generate new project ideation at the intersection of the two programs.

This workshop created a shared space for WASP and WASP-HS researchers with the goal to build interdisciplinary research directions to influence a better and healthier societal integration of generative AI. It focused on making generative AI fairer, more transparent, and accountable. Participants explored how AI affects society and how these technologies can be developed to better serve people’s needs and values. Through these discussions, various project ideas were developed.
