WASP-HS Affiliated PhD Students 2026

Affiliated PhD students will become part of the WASP-HS graduate school, building an academic network with other humanities and social science scholars working at the nexus of AI and society. WASP-HS students are expected to take at least 4 WASP-HS PhD courses during their PhD studies (examples of courses can be found here), attend summer schools and participate in the annual WASP-HS winter conference. They are also welcome to join on WASP-HS organized trips to AI research sites.

Costs for participation in WASP-HS organized activities are shared by WASP-HS and the university/project employing the student. Affiliated students are additionally eligible to apply for funding for research stays abroad.

Qualification

To qualify, students must be enrolled at a Swedish University and have started their PhD studies no earlier than 1 January, 2025.

Applications should be made through the form below. Deadline: 1 December, 2025. Acceptance decisions will be announced on 15 December, 2025. Supervisors for students who will be commencing their PhD studies after 1 December are welcome to apply on their student’s behalf.
