WASP-HS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Society (CAISA) in Denmark and the Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium (NORA).

The Nordic countries are known for high living standards, strong collaboration and high trust and a deep commitment to democracy, inclusion, and human rights. Research in the social sciences and humanities is essential to ensure that the development, implementation, and use of AI harness the Nordic competitive advantage and align with these shared societal values.

The Nordic AI Partnership for Humanity and Society (NAIP-HS) brings together CAISA, NORA, and WASP-HS in a joint initiative to enhance research collaboration, promote knowledge exchange, and drive innovation influenced by the Nordic region. Going forward, the partnership will strive to expand into a Nordic collaboration that includes Finland and Iceland.

“AI is transforming not only technology, but society as well. We look forward to working closely with our Nordic partners to ensure that perspectives from the humanities and social sciences remain at the forefront during this technological transition,“ says Christofer Edling, Program Director of WASP-HS.

Central to this collaborative effort is the annual scientific conference Nordic AI Meet. The conference is designed to support young researchers and serves as a platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and building connections between academia and society.
