Virginia Dignum, scientific director for WASP-HS, was part of the program committee for The Global Forum on AI for Humanity (GFAIH) and also chair for the session on trustworthy AI.
Virginia Dignum says: “President Macron was really very interested and very open to hear our opinions. He took lots of notes and at the end summarized the discussion very well.”
The summit took place in Paris, France, October the 28th to the 30th, 2019. The meeting gave a good opportunity to reach out on an international level.
The GFAIH was organised under the auspices of the French government and was partly chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The meeting gathered experts from AI, social sciences, humanities, and engineering, as well as innovators, economic actors, policy makers and civil society representatives in order to reach a common understanding of the perspectives brought by AI and consider global partnership initiatives to put the progress of AI for the benefit of humankind.
President Macron also mentioned that Virginia Dignum had given him food for thought, concerning the need for responsible AI and regulation.
