The arena aims to create opportunities for researchers and practitioners to jointly identify and highlight key challenges and new research questions.

The WASP-HS Collaboration Arena Welfare will offer meeting platforms where researchers and representatives from public authorities and other societal organizations can meet regularly and develop long-term collaborations around concrete challenges.

“The arena will provide opportunities for both researchers and practitioners to jointly identify and explore challenges and new research questions that are important to address through collaboration in order to better meet the development of AI use in organizations and by individuals in society,” says Helena Lindgren, Deputy Program Director for WASP-HS and Professor of Computer Science at Umeå University.

Expertise and Experience in Research Collaboration

“We are pleased to present a broad and experienced management team, all of whom contribute their expertise and experience in research collaboration with various societal organizations,” says Helena Lindgren, who leads the initiative.

In addition to Helena Lindgren, the management group of WASP-HS Collaboration Arena Welfare includes the following researchers:

  • Vanja Carlsson, Associate Professor of Public Administration, University of Gothenburg
  • Deniz Duru, Associate Professor of Communication and Media, Lund University
  • Jenny Eriksson Lundström, Associate Professor of Information Systems, Uppsala University
  • Lupita Svensson, Associate Professor of Social Work, Lund University

Sustainable Development and Use of AI in Welfare Services

Through the arena, improved knowledge development is expected through collaboration and long-term partnerships that ground research in the needs of organizations.

“Research should contribute to better and more sustainable use of AI in society’s welfare services, in ways that benefit both individuals and society in the long term, the arena aims to become an instrument for this,” says Helena Lindgren.

Launch in Autumn with Kick-Off

The activities of the Collaboration Arena Welfare will officially begin in autumn 2026. A kick-off event for invited researchers and representatives from public organizations will be held on September 2.
