About

The Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program – Humanity and Society (WASP-HS) is a eleven-year long research program running from 2019-2029. The vision of WASP-HS is to foster novel interdisciplinary knowledge in the humanities and social sciences about AI and autonomous systems and their impact on human and social development. WASP-HS enables cutting edge research, expertise and competence building in the humanities and social sciences. As such, WASP-HS contributes to the development of innovative humane technologies and their transformative interaction with society.

The program connects funded projects across Sweden and across disciplines. It further combines project funding with recruitment packages, a graduate school, and internationalization activities. The program thereby aims to contribute to the development of humanities and social sciences research on AI into a research field of the highest international quality. All this benefits science, society, and industry, and helps Sweden take a leading role in this field of research.

To advance new interdisciplinary knowledge in the humanities and social sciences on the subject of artificial intelligence and autonomous systems and their impact on human and social development, many building blocks are in place. These blocks include the program organization, and the program instuments.

Program Instruments

The building blocks of WASP-HS, also known as the program instruments, include an excellent research program, a national graduate school, capacity building and recruitment, outreach and collaboration with society, international partnership and activities, as well as cross instrument activities.

Program Organization

The organization behind WASP-HS consists of a board of executives, a management team, an international scientific advisory board, a scientific advisory board, and a program office.
